Books by Judith M. Taylor
Judith Taylor has written three books about horticultural history. This section offers an overview of each of her books, including the latest one (in press): The Global Migrations of Ornamental Plants: how the world got into your garden.
History of Music and California’s Heritage
Judith is on the board of the Mill Valley Chamber Music Society. She writes the program notes for that organization. Thinking about the rich history of music in California led her to look into other aspects of California’s heritage, and publish several pieces of work on that topic.

Articles and Reviews on the History of Horticulture
Judith is the honorary librarian and book editor for the San Francisco Garden Club. The club was founded in 1926 for the purpose of “beautifying” the city. At the same time the founders established a library, buying useful books as they appeared over the succeeding decades. This gives the library a wonderful period flavor.
Each month Judith reviews one of the books for the club’s “Garden Gazette”. In addition Judith carries out a considerable amount of independent research into the history of plants and gardens. She has published a number of articles on these topics. Judith is sharing both the library reviews and her own work on this web site.

Judith Taylor’s Biography
Judith is a retired, Board-certified neurologist who now “practices history without a license.” She was born in England and educated at Oxford. She and her husband Irvin lived and practiced medicine in Westchester County, New York, and brought up their two sons there. They now have 6 grandchildren. In 1994 they moved to the Bay area.
